Bobby Lashley vs Predator IGF Japan

Even the most hardcore wrestling fan has got to admit to finding some sort of enjoyment out of these series of clips we found on YouTube featuring former WWE wrestler Bobby Lashley and wildman The Predator. Just the first clip is priceless as The Predator gives a great over-the-top interview before coming out for his match. After the Japanese announcer introduces this big guy with chain in town, he decides to dismantle a large portion of the guard barrier before roaming into the crowd. The last time so many people scattered so fast in Japan was back in the 70's when tickets for KISS' first trip to the island were announced to go on sale. You would have thought Godzilla was on the loose! The entrance music is even over-the-top! The Predator comes out to a revamped version of Zeppelin's "Immigrant Song" while Lashey follows up by coming out to a modern take on the Stone's "Satisfaction"!

But anyway, see for yourself!

New Andre Movie Falls Short

After building up months of little anticipation new Andre The Giant biopic "Andre: Heart Of the Giant" is finlly set to hit select theaters on October 10th. To those who have seen clips of the movie or its trailer on YouTube, expectations are about as high as the New England Patriots returning to the Superbowl without Tom Brady or Ric Flair wrestling for TNA anytime soon.

This movie is meant to be a drama so we can't even label it a mockumentary even though it sure seems to be making a mockery out of something or somebody. Some unknown actors, one a really tall out of shape guy wearing a really bad wig, horrible filming, and the occassional subtitle, only add to how insulting this movie truly is.

Oddly enough, I truly believe though that Andre woulda got a chuckle out of it. Make your own choice before you shell out dough at the theater. Check out the clips below.

HBO Teaming with TV Legend on Upcoming Wrestling Drama

Long-time cable network HBO has brought together writer Aaron Blitzstein, who spent a couple of years as VP of Marketing for WCW, and television sitcom pioneer Norman Lear (All in the Family, Sanford & Son, Good Times)to produce a drama series about a 1970's New York wrestling promotion entitled "Everybody Hurts."

The network that has created such popular shows as "The Wire", The Sopranos", and "Entourage" expect this latest drama, centered around a family-run pro-wrestling company with hints into the lives of the wrestlers and fans, to continue HBO's string of successful ongoing series. While the series goes old school it also proves how wrestling, and life, can come full circle.

“It was post-Watergate, and the U.S. was dealing with an energy crisis and the Iran hostage crisis,” Blitzstein said. “Now we’re dealing with the Bush administration, our soldiers in Iraq and the skyrocketing gas prices. The show is as much about family and politics as it is about wrestling.”

Ric Flair's current going rate for overseas bookings is $30,000 per appearance, which includes two first class tickets for himself and his agent Elaine Gillespie who accompanies him on all of his appearances. Gillespie is insisting on all money up front. The old standard was for top stars to get half the money in advance as a bond.

Flair's recent publicity on TMZ did end up hurting him and not because of his daughter's arrest. The photo of Flair with a black eye had hurt a possible deal with Coca-Cola as they were in talks with him until they saw the photos. Flair still has deals with several Southeastern Wal-Marts.

It should be noted that TNA has sent feelers through Hermie Sadler to Flair, but Flair signed a one-year non-compete clause when he got his release from WWE as it pertained to working for TNA specifically.

CNN.com has posted this article detailing how Darren Aronofsky, director for the soon-to-be-released movie "The Wrestler", approached Mickey Rourke to star in the film. The movie, as well as Rourke, has received rave reviews at recent film festivals and even won the Golden Lion award at the Venice Film Festival. Fox Searchlight has announced a December 19 release date for the film.

Nick Hogan Possibly Scheduled for Early Release

Online celeb rag tmz.com is reporting that Nick "son of Hulk" Hogan will be released from prison on Tuesday, Oct. 21 due to good behavior instead of the original January 9, 2009 release date.

This follows a People Magazine report that hinted at Nick possibly being released three months earlier than his original sentence.

Hogan was sentenced to eight months for his involvement in an automobile accident that permanently disabled his longtime friend John Graziano.

Roberts Saga Continues

Still lots of reports making the rounds regarding the incident with Jake Roberts at an indy event in Ohio last week. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports nearly two dozen empty small bottles of vodka were found near Jake's gear. He was also spotted punching a wall and running into the street crying. Police and an ambulance were called to the show, but Roberts refused medical attention and was not arrested.

What followed was a slew of apologizes from Jakes' assistant and Jake apologizing himself in a few interviews since then. Both Jake and his assitant claim he was drugged after being handed a cold drink earlier in the night as Jake didn't remember anything until waking up the next morning. Jake admitted later he was drinking earlier, but still feels he was drugged after drinking the open container.

Jerry Mires, who worked as J-Rocc on the show, commented on the situation saying the following: "How dare Jake choose to drink 25 shots of vodka knowing he was there to perform,” wrote Mires on his web site. “How dare Jake pull his dick out in front of a truckload of kids, and how dare Jake try to say he was drugged at the show. I am outraged they would even say something like that. Jake drank himself stupid, took whatever pills or God knows what else he did, and knew what he was doing the whole time."

Contrary to earlier reports that WWE superstar Jeff Hardy was escorted off a plane he boarded Wednesday morning with brother Matt and Gregory Helms at Nashville International Airport, The Tennesseean is now reporting that Southwest Airlines spokesman Chris Mainz has confirmed that Hardy was not allowed to board in the first place. Southwest employees felt that Hardy, though cooperative, was too intoxicated to board and was allowed to take a later flight.

Former WCW, TNA, and WWE wrestler Sonny Siaki, who was trained at the WCW Power Plant by Dusty Rhodes and Paul Orndorff, has released the following statement announcing his retirement from wrestling in order to donate a kidney to his brother Bernard.

"I just want to say a few things before I close this chapter of my life. The last ten years, I've seen, heard, watched, and learned a lot about myself and the wrestling business. Being a professional wrestler has been one of my dreams since I was a kid. I've had some of the worse and the absolute best times of my life in wrestling... "If you think you know, you have no idea".

Being in the wrestling business is the hardest job in the world. You have to be mentally, emotionally, and physically strong to be accepted into it. If you've never been a part of the business, you have no clue what we (the boys) deal with. In my opinion, the only good part about being in professional wrestling is being in the ring. This business is about filling up arenas, ratings, and drawing money. Are there politics involved in wrestling? Of course there are; politics are a portion of any job. The creative team and agents in WWE and TNA have been in the business for years, and they've seen it all. Opportunities are not given - you've got to take what they give you and find a way to turn it into money. You've got to take chances and think outside the box in this entertainment industry. Bottom line, if you have the potential to be a profitable asset to WWE or TNA then you'll be put on TV. The question you have to ask yourself is: How can I make Vince money?, or How can I make Jeff money? For me; Did I ever make it in pro wrestling? My opinion: No... Was it my fault? Yes, because the first seven years of my career, I didn't get it. I wanted to do what was best for me, not for the match. In the locker room, I was known for being arrogant, cocky, conceited, etc. I took advantage of being a called a pro wrestler. I was VERY selfish... These last three years, the wrestling business became a learning experience. Having good psychology was an adrendelen rush. I started respecting the boys and pro wrestling. Telling a good story in the ring was exciting, wrestling became fun.

Well, unfortunately, two years ago while still with WWE, I received some bad news from home. My brother Bernard, who's only 35 yrs old, was diagnosed with Renal Kidney Failure, a situation where one of his kidneys has completely shut down and the other is functioning at 35%. For the past two years Bernard's rare situation has turned against him. The functioning capability of his one kidney has decreased from 35% to 10%. Bernard seeks dialysis three days a week for 15 hours and lives on a strict diet. Everyday he perseveres with pain, discomfort and more fatigue than one person can usually endure. Bernard works full time just trying to pay his medical bills and on-going medications. We are in the process of providing a kidney transplant at a very high cost for Bernard Siaki by raising awareness, fundraisers, and getting people like you involved. Bernard who just by his kindness alone, contributes to a better society. A tender-hearted man, a gregarious friend, a beloved man. He's the type of person who cares more about other people then himself. I've decided to be the Kidney Donor for my brother which means that the doctor says I can no longer wrestle.

From 1998 to 2008, I was under contract with WCW, TNA, and WWE, and want to thank each organizations for giving me the opportunity to live one of my dreams. It was a privilege and an honor to work with some of the best talents in the world.

To all the boys with WWE, TNA, ROH , the talent in developmental, all Indy workers, and the divas - I know what you put your bodies through, and from the bottom of my heart, I wish you the best. If you believe in faith, please pray for me and Bernard as we get our surgeries that will potentially save my brother's life. To all wrestling fans, thank you for your support of pro wrestling. Without you, there would be no Sports Entertainment.

My family have paired with the 1st church of the Nazarene in Wilmington, NC to support Bernard's transplant activities. The first church of the Nazarene is considered a non-profit organization. The Wrestling Mole: Jake "The Snake" Roberts Stumbles instead of Slithers in Ohio

For the past 16 days the wrestling world has been buzzing about the now infamous "Drunk Jake" match that took place during an Indy show this past friday in Cleveland, Ohio. In a city known for rock & roll and party heights of debauchery, Jake "The Snake" Robert apparently was able to top even the most over-the-top acts found in even Cleveland's Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

They call the Cleveland Brown's onfield play the past two weeks criminal? After this past Friday the Brown's are Superbowl champs when compared to what happened in Robert's Match.

But before I talk about the video which has been circulating on YouTube (which you can watch below) I must first add that Roberts’ assistant issued a statement Monday suggesting that someone drugged Roberts when he asked for a cold drink. More about that statement in a minute.

Now it is a well known fact that Roberts has had his issues with drugs and alcohol in the past. Roberts even discusses those issues in the wrestling documentary "Beyond the Mat". But after viewing this video I can only describe what I viewed as bizzare.

The video begins with Roberts standing outside of the ring mumbling incoherently about what sounds like the referee. He then sits down outside of the ring and continues to ramble. He then, I believe, tells his opponent, who is already in the ring, that he is going to "kick your ass" and "I feel sorry for you" before making a rough attempt to enter the ring. The opponent then pummels Roberts a few times and then while being pulled out of the corner, Roberts drops face first and just lies there. The opponent then goes for the pin a couple of time, Roberts kicking out of both, before Roberts is pinned on the third attempt.

As Roberts is kneeling in the ring his opponent is announced as the winner and leaves to theme music to which the guy cuts short. He then addresses Roberts by saying "Listen, I've been in this business 16 years. I've wrestled drug addicts like Tommy Rich, Jimmy Snuka, you are a piece of sh**t Jake..." before the guy's buddy jumps in the ring and starts attacking Roberts which has little to no affect on The Snake. Roberts stumbles around the ring for a few minutes then the video shows Roberts being berated by another wrestler outside of the venue surrounded by a crowd of people. Despite the insanely bad match one person has only one thought: "This sh**t better go on YouTube".

Later on Chris Yandek's radio show Roberts comments on the incident by saying: “I don’t remember anything up until the next morning whenever I called Shannon [Jake’s assistant] and did not know where I was at, what I was doing there, what I was supposed to do. Anything. I am still very foggy. I can’t think. I can’t put things together. I can’t remember anything. First off, I just want to say I am terribly embarrassed. I am hurt. I know how many people I’ve let down. I am scared to because I’ve never felt this way in my life.”

Roberts then says that he woke up the next day with his wrestling gear on and was told later later by his assistant that he wrestled and that he was taken to the hospital but refused treatment.

When asked by Chris Yandek the last thing he remembered Roberts responded by saying, “Going to the show and eating a McDonalds. That’s a horrible thing to remember isn’t it? Eating McDonalds.”

Later Robert's assistant Shannon sent Yandek the following statement, "We have a witness to the effect of who MIGHT have made a direct attempt to do Jake great harm at the show. WE KNOW WHO YOU ARE. One of the men IN THE RING with Jake is somebody we are going to take a much closer look at. Somebody saw this man with an envelope with some powder in it at the show. Somebody saw what happened here. We now are very SURE Jake was in fact drugged. More details will be forth coming as soon as we can get permission from this fine individual to offer them."

The Wrestling Mole has to wonder about the validity of this statement. On one hand I would have to believe that not to many people would find this type of behavior odd when it comes to The Snake. On the other hand, Roberts is known to be openly candid about drug or alchol related incidents. He is usually the first to admit when he screws up.

What is even sadder is that the crowd was greatly entertained by the entire spectacle. EVEN sadder is that Robert's opponent had the bad taste to berate Robert's in front of the audience when he could have just walked straight to the back. And what of the other guy who went after Roberts AFTER the match?!?!?! That guy is a Class-A pie hole who apparently can't even take down a chemically-induced individual. If Robert indeed showed lack of judgement by wrestling while under the influence of something, then these two bozos showed any lack of viable character traits by acting like a couple of irresponsible teenage punks.

What is for certain is this-Roberts, at one time one of wrestling's most gifted performers, still finds himself slowly sinking in the quicksand that is now his wasted and tarnished legacy. It seems that the time limit on regaining his once glorious career and past glories has now passed him by.

Jake we are begging you, please leave the wrestling ring behind and leave us with the memories and footage of The Snake we so love and remember before it is too late.

Two discs containing 360 minutes of stories, matches, clips, & memorable moments is what can be expected to be seen when you pick up WWE’s latest home video release. There are plenty of home clips of Curt all through his life & past his death. You'll see ten of the best matches shown with this genuine star. There also is plenty of discussion coming from such ring greats as: Nick Bockwinkel, "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair, "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels, Arn Anderson, Triple H, "The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes, & dozens of others -- including former MLB star & Curt's good friend, Wade Boggs. From hunting to fishing, wrestling to commentating, managing to singing, to being featured playing his practical jokes with many great stories, you will get a full dose of Mr. Perfect. When you watch this documentary, you'll once again easily be reminded how awesome he really was. You will follow his life story, and every single minute is a great one to watch here.

A great presentation from the WWE. The Hennig vs Bockwinkel match had a rip through the picture towards the ending but for one straight hour that entire complete un-edited match was absolutely awesome to see again. The WWE’s documentary on Mr. Perfect’s life was edited perfectly in all the right ways, and the matches were re-mastered as if they were shot with the most modern upgraded equipment out there. I still wonder how they continue to keep there footage so clear looking.

Who will ever forget all the Mr. Perfect vignettes produced by the WWE? They are all featured within the DVD in the extras. You will also be treated to the catchy hit “Rap Is Crap” from The West Texas Redneck WCW days. The ribs that Curt was legendary for throughout his career were even demonstrated by an individual which was a riot just watching that in & itself. The matches are incredible, with half being from Madison Square Garden. The WWE Hall Of Fame Induction was fitting on this DVD as well -- whether you saw it already or not.

What's On The DVD? Larry "The Axe" Hennig will be the man you listen to the most, as he lived during Curt’s entire life. All the Hennig family seem like a very close loving group of people, and you will hear stories from Larry starting, from getting Curt started, & even driving him to New York to meet Vince McMahon Sr. in the very early '80's. Larry was motivated by his son to step back into the ring, once Curt returned back in the Midwest in the mid-80's, and enjoyed working again with him. Larry will take you through it all, as Curt became a superstar on a national level for many years, and even after when Curt was met with his untimely death.

Another person who makes you really understand more of Curt Hennig as a personal friend of his was Wade Boggs. You never would have realized how close they were, but you will find out during many tearful stories -- where in one of them Curt saves Wades life, and now Wade makes mention that Curt is "his personal guardian angel."

The behind-the-scenes shoots where Curt was showing his perfection and would mess up when the cameras were on during many of the vignettes were discussed, and many out-takes were shown. Curt’s reactions to his mistakes were priceless every single time. The ribs were also a riot, either clever or immature, but that was Curt just trying to have fun which is what he always tried to do.

Another good portion of the DVD was of the time he spent as a color commentator. His quick wit & funny lines were continuously mentioned about during these parts. You could tell Curt behind the microphone just loved to share his feelings and entertain his workers & the audience.

The way the DVD ended really left me confused though. The music got slower & sadder and then you read that he was released by WWE, went to work for local indy groups, but then suddenly for a few seconds they put a newspaper clipping of his death on the screen. The headline made mention of a possible cocaine overdose. Never in this documentary at any time was any mention of any drugs, but all of the sudden his possible demise was of a cocaine overdose. I understand also that the Hennig family probably isn’t comfortable in discussing this situation on camera, and therefore you will be left confused because not one word about any drug was thought upon. This is very different from the style of DVD when they featured Road Warrior Hawk, World Class Wrestling or Brian Pillman-type home videos. This left a very empty feeling, because I was on such a high for the past hour...and then this just put a halt to it all. In the end you may feel a deep sadness for everyone close to the Hennig's who wishes that Curt was around today. Larry & Curt's son (Joe) are shown, still hurt the most -- because they both, in their own personal feelings, not only lost a very close family member, but also the best friend of their lives.

The Matches: Three matches alone with Bret "Hitman" Hart, while one might complain, I certainly can not. Each one was a classic whether it was in the WWE or WCW. Seeing Mr. Perfect was a nice touch, and watching Hulk Hogan look like he knew how to wrestle, due to upping his level to not look bad with Curt, was really nice. His debut match in Madison Square Garden against Eddie Gilbert was a lot of fun to witness again, and his AWA Tag Team Match with Scott Hall vs Steven Regal & Jim Garvin showed there future potential to be the greats they became. There are only ten bouts shown though. My complaint is there should have been a third disc with at least ten more.

The best match they put on hands down was the AWA Championship Match between Champion Nick Bockwinkel & challenger Curt Hennig from Las Vegas, NV. Untouched footage for one straight hour, this is perhaps one of the greatest matches of any era.

This DVD features unbelievable stories, classic vignettes, unseen footage, & great matches featuring a huge WWE Hall Of Famer. A major thumbs up all the way. Buy this DVD. This will be one that you will always love to go back to. There is no reason why you should not. There is a little bit of almost everything a fan needs included within the two-disc set.

FCW Rage began with World Champion Devon Wright coming to the ring to gloat over his latest title win over Ethan Case at FCW Heat Stroke. Wright announced to the audience that he is the longest reigning champion in FCW history and that he no longer has any opponents left in FCW to face. One by one Solitude, Big Game James and the Common Man came to the ring to state their case for #1 contendership. CEO Daniel E. Mayne then came out and informed everyone, that while he has already scheduled a mystery opponent to challenge Wright for the belt in the main event, a 10 Man Over the Top Rope Battle Royal has been scheduled for later in the evening to decide who will face the FCW Champion on September 27th at the National Guard Armory in Thomson, Georgia.

Flair Tag Teams with Daughter in Chapel Hill Incident

ABC news reported Monday that Ric Flair's daughter, Ashley Fliehr, has been charged with assaulting a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest following a confrontation in Chapel Hill, NC this past Friday.

According to reports, Flair and his daughter were in a fight with an unidentified 22-year-old man in a parking lot of a Chapel Hill apartment complex when police were called. Police were forced to use a taser gun on Flair's daughter who was arrested for kicking an officer.

Though bloodied and bruised Flair has decided not to press charges.

Wrestling Movie Picked up for U.S. Distribution

New dramatic film “The Wrestler”, a film starring Mickey Rourke that follows a former professional wrestling star whose been reduced to making ends meet on the independent wrestling circuit, was picked up Monday by Fox Searchlight for U.S. distribution.

The film, co-starring Marisa Tomei and Evan Rachel Wood, won the award for best film at the Venice Film Festival on September 5th and drew raves at the Toronto International Film Festival this past Sunday. “The Wrestler” will make an appearance at the New York Film Festival on October 12th.

Not to be confused with the 1974 movie of the same name starring Ed Asner and scores of wrestlers such as Dusty Rhodes and Dick Murdoch, “The Wrestler” features pro wrestlers Ernest Miller and Ron Killings.

Scheduled for a December release, “The Wrestler” is already being touted as a possible Academy Awards contender.

As of today, I am a free agent in the world of professional wrestling. I will always be grateful to WWE for affording me so many incredible opportunities over the past thirteen years, but feel the time is right to pursue other endeavors.
This move frees me up to participate in more film, television and voice roles, autograph sessions, speaking engagements, volunteer work, and will allow me the time to start work on a third novel, a fourth wrestling memoir and a new children’s story.

Now I'll be the first to admit that wrestling today pretty much makes me wanna puke. Well at least the majors. It has become more exciting lately to follow the firings, defections and injury reports of the WWE than any of the storylines and TNA? Well their X-Division is starting to remind of the "mini-duplicate" midget wrestlers from back in the day. I'm expecting any day now for Consequences Creed (who already is some sort of portrayal of Rocky Balboa's nemesis turned ally Apollo Creed) to come out sporting a Coco B. Ware outfit carrying a parakeet. All we'd need then is for Curry Man (yep..."Curry Man") to come out sporting a Doink the Clown gimmick and the X-Division transformation will be nearly complete. I'd like to throw in a plug for Abdul Bashir to change his name yet again. This time to The Iron BaShiek and while we're at it...how about we get Alex Shelley to don a wig and come out as the Ultimate Wannabe.

Can I get paid now for my marketing genius? (hint of sarcasm included)

Back over in WWE land ol' Vince is pushing Chris Jericho vs. Shawn Michaels and a trio of "scramble" championship matches at this Sundays Unforgiven pay-per-view plus they have a "Divas" championship match. Now I gotta ask? Is this wrestling or a hint to eat a hearty breakfast, listen to some Whitney Houston and then take a nap?

After grimmacing through RAW this past Monday I came to the conclusion that the major leagues of professional wrestling has zip entertainment value.

Until today.

While rummaging through the news at wrestleview.com I came across this news bit entitled "Santino Marella vs. Perez Hilton" and I thought to myself, "I dig faux Italian wrestlers just as much as the next guy." (HEY! Salvator Bellomo was a heck of an Italian juggernaut!) Within I descovered that apparently Santino Marella, a Canadian wrestler of "Italian descent", hosts his own video show on wwe.com entitled "Santino's Casa" or "Santino's House" for you non-worldly types out there. In the meager span of two minutes and a handful of seconds Santino disses gossip king, um queen, um whatever, Perez Hilton and then rakes Roddy Piper over the coals. While I expected the worst, I absolutely laughed my ass off which is good because Santino's wrestling makes me cry and not in a "moved to tears" kinda way.

In a cookie-cutter wrestling world where everyone wishes they were Jeff Hardy or Triple H, the video actually was a breath of fresh air in an otherwise stale cloud that is the typical wrestling personality of today.

Don't believe me, watch the clip below...when you're done laughing you can go back to watching your Hardy Boys DVD.

So you thought the World Wrestling Federation would send its second-rung talent to Augusta?

It doesn't matter what you think!

That's right, the Rock, along with WWF superstars Chris Jericho, Kane, the Big Show, Val Venis, the Godfather, Hardcore Holly, Jeff Jarrett and D'Lo Brown, are scheduled to appear on Saturday, Sept. 25, at the Augusta-Richmond County Civic Center.

About the only big name WWF grapplers not scheduled are ``Stone Cold'' Steve Austin, Mankind, Triple H, X Pac, the Road Dogg, the Undertaker and ``Mr. Ass'' Billy Gunn.

The ``official'' card from WWF headquarters lists the following matches:

The Rock vs. Jericho, who recently defected from rival league World Championship Wrestling. This feud has been brewing ever since golden-maned Jericho, the self-proclaimed Y2J problem, burst on the WWF scene a few weeks ago, interrupting the Rock as he held court.

Kane vs. ``The Big Show'' Paul Wight. These are two very, very big men. What they lack in personality they make up for in sheer wallop.

The Brood, the Acolytes and the Hardy Boyz square off in a three-team tag match. All kinds of history here: the Brood and Acolytes used to be minions of the Undertaker; the Hardy Boyz joined former Brood member Gangrel to form the New Brood; yada, yada, yada.

Former Ultimate Fighting Championship fighters Ken Shamrock and ``The Lethal Weapon'' Steve Blackman are scheduled for a knockout or submission bout. Can anyone say Kindo stick?

D'Lo Brown vs. Jeff Jarrett for the Intercontinental Title. Where are the puppies?

Jackie vs. Ivory for the WWF Women's title. ``Ebony and Ivory live together in perfect harmony.'' Hey Paul and Stevie, not this time, pals!

The Godfather vs. Gangrel.

Chaz (with valet Marianna) vs. ``Hardcore'' Bob Holly. Hardcore has emerged as one of the funnier characters in recent months, proclaiming his 240-pound self the best of the ``superheavyweights'' and subsequently getting numerous beatdowns from the big boys in that division. He might get to win this one against the artist formerly known as a Headbanger.

There is of course, no guarantee these performers will actually show up and these matchups will go on as scheduled. In tiny print at the bottom of the card, it says ``card is subject to change.'' Furthermore, Mankind (Mick Foley) and Chyna, not listed on the card, are being advertised on local radio spots.

In any event, the prospects are exciting.

Tickets, available at the civic center box office and at TicketMaster outlets, are $15, $25 and $30. Call 828-7700. The show starts at 5 p.m.

Legendary Wrestler Walter "Killer" Kowalski Passes Away at 82

Walter "Killer" Kowalski, who wrestled from 1947 to 1977 in such organization as the National Wrestling Alliance, the American Wrestling Alliance and the World Wide Wrestling Federation, passed away Saturday morning at the age of 82. Kowalski, famously known for a 1952 match in Montreal in which he ripped off part of Yukon Eric’s ear while performing a knee drop, was taken off life support two weeks ago after suffering a massive heart attack on August 8th.

Over the years Kowalski held numerous titles in several wrestling organizations including the NWA Central States Heavyweight Championship and NWA Central States Tag Team co-Championship, NWA Florida Southern Heavyweight Championship, NWA United States Heavyweight Championship/Hawaii, NWA Pacific Coast Tag Team Championship/Vancouver, NWA Americas Tag Team Championship, NWA Pacific Coast Tag Team Championship, NWA Texas Brass Knuckles Championship and NWA Texas Tag Team Championship, Stampede Wrestling's NWA Canadian Heavyweight Championship (twice), NWA International Tag Team Championship (twice), WWWF United States Tag Team Championship, and the WWWF World Tag Team Championship.

Kowalski also held the Montreal Athletic Commission's Heavyweight Championship on 12 separate occasions, the International Wrestling Alliance Heavyweight Championship 5 times and their Tag Team Championship on 4 occasions.

Wrestlers Kowalski has trained over the years include Triple H, Perry Saturn, John Kronus, Chyna, Big John Studd, Chris Nowinski, Matt Bloom, April Hunter, Frankie Kazarian, and Kenny Dykstra

Services will be held Wednesday at Weir funeral Home in Malden MA. A6 2 and 6 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that wrestling fans send donations to: Walter "Killer" Kowalski Memorial Fund, Citizens Bank, 876 Main Street, Malden, MA 02148.

Technical Difficulties Fail to Discourage PSP

Despite glitches with last nights Peach State Pandemonium Broadcast, Georgia Wrestling History Online will charge forward with a great show this upcoming Wednesday September 3rd at 9PM featuring NWA legend Ronnie Garvin and GCW star Micah Taylor.

Foley Reportedly Signs with TNA

The Pro Wrestling Torch and ProWrestling.net are reporting that current WWE superstar Mick Foley has agreed to contracyual terms with TNA Wrestling. It is also being reported that Foley will debut sometime after his WWE contract expires after September 1st. Under speculation is still the possibility that his WWE contract may currently include a non-compete clause making his eventual date of debut with TNA uncertain.

Former GCW Star Young Headed to PTPW?

Wrestler David Young, who recently broke ties with Great Championship Wrestling, is already rumored to be booked with another regional promotion. Young, one of GCW's top drawing stars for the past four years is reportedly due to take part in Prime Time Pro Wrestling's event in Columbus on August 29th. Also of note is the fact that Colt Derringer & Deathrow are scheduled to take on Chris Stevens & a Mystery Partner. Young perhaps? Also on the card will be Elix Skipper and long-time regional wrestler Chic Donovan

Raw Over Monday Night Football Streak Ends

After RAW beating out Monday Night football in the rating the past few weeks, it appears as the WWE using the rash of recent ratings wins as a promotional tool has come to an end. PWInsider is reporting that thispast Mondays MNF game between the Seahawks and Chargers beat out Raw by drawing a 3.2 rating compared to Raw's 2.84. Seeing that Raw did air on the Sci fi channel instead of their usual home and that the NFL is still in it's pre-season, we'll have to wait and see how the two fair against each other under "normal" circumstances.

Kevin Nash Addresses Recent Rumors

The Baltimore sun recently posted a pair of Kevin Nash video interviews online where the former WCW/WWE and current TNA superstar commented on reports that he walked out on TNA tapings last month in Orlando. In one of the interviews he states:

"I have a clause in my contract that states that when it comes to physicality, that I have the right to veto with creative anything that I don't feel is safe, that is warranted or anything else. We had 10 guys and a battle royal is a cluster anyway. To give everyone a weapon and give me a pipe and then the only way I can be eliminated is to go over the top rope. As I was sitting and thinking about it, well the first thing I have to do is go over the top rope and make sure the pipe doesn't leave my hand and hit a fan. Then I have to make sure that I don't impale myself on it. And thirdly, I have to make sure I don't land on it."

No Chance in Hell of TNA vs WWE

WrestleView.com reported earlier this month that WWE had changed the date of its Armageddon PPV from December 21 to December 14, falling on the same day as TNA's Turning Point PPV.

Since the satellite and cable companies will not allow two events like these to run on the same night, TNA has moved the Turning Point PPV to December 21.

On this week's late edition of MNM you will see CM Punk and Julio Dinero pit against Matt Sydal and Onyx on the 27th of August 2003. This match was promoted by NWA: TNA as part of their weekly Pay-Per-View. Magnum T.A. vs Nikita Koloff - United States Heavyweight Championship Tourney - best of 7 Series...In this matchup Nikita is winning 3-0....from August 1986. Jerry Lawler confrontation with Vince McMahon in USWA? If Bret Hart going heel in Memphis was shocking this was absolutely jaw dropping. Again, you have to put this in context. August 23, 1993. Vince has never been acknowledged as anything more then the WWF's lead announcer. 20 years worth of just being a commentator. Most fans didn't even know he owned the company until the early 90's. Suddenly, he's getting booed out of the Mid South Coliseum. The match here is a stretcher match between Jerry Lawler and heel referee Paul Neighbors. But make no mistake, the confrontation between Lawler and Vince was the big draw. About 3,600 showed up for this match, the Memphis crowd since the AWA title switch in 1988. Great historic stuff. This aired on the August 28, 1993 USWA program.

Flatline Championship Wrestling results from "Heat Stroke" on August 23 at Liberty Park in Grovetown, GA.

On Saturday August 23rd Flatline Championship Wrestling made it's Liberty Park debut bringing CSRA wrestling to a whole new area of wrestling fans. As always FCW CEO Daniel E. Mayne was introduced to address the crowd presenting a hint of what was to follow during the course of the evening.

Nick Kismet vs. Italian Ice
In the opening bout the new "Loudest Man in FCW" Nick Kismet took on FCW newcomer Italian Ice. Amidst chants of "Pizza Boy" and "Pepperoni Head" Italian Ice took the battle to Kismet before being wrapped up by FCW's loudest wrestler for the 1-2-3.

Hallowicked vs. Venom
Originally a scheduled bout between Hallowicked and FCW World Champion Devon Wright, this match changed drastically with Wright distracting Hallowicked from outside the ring leaving an opening for Hells Kitchen's own Venom to creep into the ring and attack Hallowicked from behind. After a vain attempt by Venom to schoolboy the massive Hallowicked the tide would quickly turn leaving Venom with one more mark in the loss column.

Matt Crosby vs. The Common Man
This match between two of the largest wrestlers in FCW would eventually get even bigger following a Crosby disqualification for hitting "below the belt". Crosby would follow-up by calling down Big Game James and Tyson Riddick out to try and take out the Common Man once and for all. With security in the ring and order shortly restored, the Common Man would challenge the three big men to a two-on-three handicap match that would include his little brother. After mutual agreement on both sides and confirmation by CEO Daniel E. Mayne, the Common Man's "little" brother was introduced revealing the "not so little" Big Hoss. In the end it would be the difference in the match as the big man was too much for Crosby, James & Riddick to overcome leaving brother Big Hoss and the Common Man with the win.

Rage Division Championship
Chris Mayne(c) vs. Ethan Case vs. Chris Hamrick
In one of the most electrifying matches of the night, FCW Rage Champion Chris Mayne took on "The New Release" Ethan Case and "ECW Original" Chris Hamrick in a three-way fight for the Rage title. With high-flying action in and out of the ring all three wrestlers took turns grabbing the momentum before Mayne wrapped up Case to retain the title.

V.I.P w/ Ms. Harden vs. The Internationals
Following intermission John Malus, recovering from an attack a few weeks ago, came out to address the crowd responding to rumors of his possible return top the ring. The announcement was cut short by the arrival of V.I.P. Brandon Paradise and Cali Casanova with Ms. Harden, still reeling from losing the tag team belts at the September 9th Rage event. Following an exchange of words, Daniel E. Mayne would call out new opponents for the former tag champs, non other than Ms. Harden's former clients the reunited Internationals-Hans Baumgartner and The Live Organ. For the majority of the match momentum shifted equally back and forth before Baumgartner used the Eagle Drop onto Paradise for the pinfall.

King of the Ladder Match
Josh Magnum(c) vs. Darkness vs. Johnny Blaze
In what was one of the most brutal ladder matches in FCW history, the King of the Ladder himself, Josh Magnum took on Darkness and "Juggalo" Johnny Blaze. No strangers to ladders themselves, the challengers would prove to be worthy opponents for Magnum making quick use of three ladders of varying size. With high-flying action in and out of the ring, all three combatants would literally end up leaving blood and sweat in the ring before Darkness would gain the pinfall and crown of "King of the Ladder".

Devon Wright vs. Sixx
In one of the more unusual moments of the night, FCW World Champion Devon Wright came to the ring and announced his opponent for the for the final match of the night by grabbing a fan from the audience and throwing him into the ring. Daniel E. Mayne quickly stopped the match and announced a new opponent for the match-The American Nightmare Sixx! What then began as a simple non-title bout between the two long-time rivals turned into a hardcore mellee as chairs, thumb tacks and even a barbed wire board were introduced into the match. In the end Sixx would prevail by dropping Wright onto tacks with "The Omen" for the 1-2-3. Following the match the fan that Wright attacked to start the match would return to the ring to repay the favor.

All-in all Heat Stroke '08 lived up to it's billing as the "Big Damned Event of the Summer" with a loud rowdy audience and incredible action. The only question that remains is how will this affect FCW's next event September 13th at Patriots Park? Fans will just have to come out and see!

PWInsider reports that former TNA Knockout Gail Kim will be returning to WWE once her current deal with TNA expires. Reportedly WWE made Kim a fairly sizeable offer to have her heavily involved on either of the Raw or Smackdown Diva rosters. Kim's decision is reported to be strictly financial and sources report that the TNA door will remain open should Kim wish to return later.

Sting did not return to TV tapings after the Hard justice pay-per-view due to ongoing negotiations for a new contract with TNA. TNA is seeking to have a deal finalized in the next few weeks for 2009 in order to move on with key parts of Sting's current angle. Sting, who turns 50 early next year, was believed to be earning in the $600,000 range this last year for working basically a part-time schedule.

The Wrestling Observer reports that the decision to pull Mick Foley from his involvement in the Undertaker/Edge Hell in the Cell Match at SummerSlam was made by Vince McMahon on the basis that it would distract from new plans for the match. Reportedly McMahon told the WWE creative team that what was scripted for Foley was now off the show and said they were "moving on without Mick." No news on the exact meaning of that comment as of yet. Foley, who had agreed to sign with TNA in 2005 before the WWE gave hime a new deal, has been reported to be in talks with the Dixie Carter run company.

Speculation continues to grow in the authenticity of Randy Orton's recent morocycle accident. While media outlets in the St. Louis area have been unable to find evidence that suggests the incident occurred, family and friends have come forth in an effort to validate the story that the WWE superstar recounted to WWE.com. At recent WWE TV tapings the accident was being discussed as being real yet a couple of days later many found it strange that nobody could find any sort of doumentation of Orton being in a near fatal motorcycle accident.

Augusta's Team Greubel Continues Domination

After two top summer events fighters from Greubel's Mixed Martial Arts in Augusta can now claim two world champions and five national champions among it's fighters. 2006 IKF Junior Fighter of the Year Nathan "The Natural" Key and Tony Lester both overcame multiple fights to bring home World titles from the IKF World Classic in Orlando this past July. In August Team Greubel sent five team members to the W.A.K.O. United States Championships in Chicago. All five, Key, Cameron Lamb, Nicholas Torrance, Tyler Chavous and Cord Connaway, returned home as champions.

Cormier Out Due to Hydration Problems

BEIJING (AP)—United States freestyle wrestler Daniel Cormier became severely dehydrated after making weight for Thursday’s Olympic matches at 96 kilograms (211 1/2 pounds) and withdrew before he was to wrestle.

Cormier weighed in Wednesday afternoon at the China Agriculture University gymnasium but became ill about three hours later and was treated by the USOC medical staff at the athletes’ village. He was then taken to a local hospital with severe dehydration and cramping—a problem, if untreated, that can lead to kidney malfunction, a reduced blood output and other severe health problems.

“He definitely had a physical breakdown,” U.S. freestyle coach Kevin Jackson said. “As we got down to last couple of days, he really struggled getting down to the scratch weight.”

Cormier remained hospitalized Thursday as the final day of Olympic wrestling continued and he was unlikely to return to normal for another 12 to 24 hours. USOC chief medical officer Dr. William Kuprevich said Cormier was never unconscious and his situation never advanced to being life-threatening.

As late as one hour before his first scheduled match, Cormier was lobbying to wrestle and talked to Jackson about traveling to the arena and warm up, but family members and doctors discouraged him from doing so.

“It was never the doctor’s thoughts he should compete, it was always a question of his health and what could happen if he did put his kidneys under this type of stress, whether it be a warmup or whether it be a match,” Jackson said.

Cormier’s kidney functions were being monitored and he was receiving intravenous fluids and undergoing blood and urine testing, Kuprevich said. Cormier was improving the longer he received the fluids and, unless there are complications, it is unlikely the problem will affect him long term, Kuprevich said.

Legendary Southern Wrestler/Ref Passes Away

Jack Faggart, most popularly known as long-time southern wrestler/referee Sonny "Roughhouse" Fargo, passed away around 9PM Wednesday August 20. Fargo, billed as the crazy cousin of Jackie Fargo in Tennessee during the sixties had lost both legs due to diabetes. Fargo also worked for many years as a referee with Jim Crockett Promotions.

Reports are coming in that Gail Kim has left TNA and has also been removed from the organization's website.

Angle Training for MMA?

According to a new report by The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Kurt Angle has been training twice a week in closed door sessions at the Pittsburgh Fight Club. It remains to be seen if Angle is simply doing this training for the workout or if he has any real intentions of competing in Mixed Martial Arts in the future. (wrestleview.com)

According to the official website for the US Airways Center, Steve Austin is being promoted as making a "special guest appearance" at the WWE Cyber Sunday PPV on Sunday, October 26.

The statement reads as follows: "World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) superstars will take to the ring when WWE presents Cyber Sunday at US Airways Center on Sunday, Oct. 26, beginning at 4:45 p.m. The event is scheduled to feature WWE superstars John Cena, Undertaker, Triple H, CM Punk, JBL, Big Show, Kane, Jeff Hardy, The Great Khali and Batista, among others. In addition, a special guest appearance will be made by WWE legend Stone Cold Steve Austin."

CMT to debut 'Hulk Hogan's Celebrity Championship Wrestling' Oct. 18

CMT has announced Hulk Hogan's Celebrity Championship Wrestling, a new reality competition series that will follow 10 celebrity contestants as they are trained to be professional wrestlers by the Hogan Knows Best patriarch and American Gladiators co-host, will premiere Saturday, October 18 at 8PM ET/PT.

Each hour-long episode will follow the participants as they are divided into two teams of five and compete in various team challenges, training scenarios and elimination matches that include mastering complex wrestling moves, trash talking and working a live audience.

At the end of each episode, the contestants will be judged by Hogan, wrestling promoter and former World Championship Wrestling president Eric Bischoff and wrestling manager Jimmy Hart.

The winner will be crowned "Celebrity All-Star Wrestling Champion."

Hulk Hogan's Celebrity Championship Wrestling's cast consists of former child actor and Breaking Bonaduce star Danny Bonaduce; former NBA star and Celebrity Mole: Yucatan champ Dennis Rodman; former Saved by the Bell actor Celebrity Fit Club participant Dustin "Screech" Diamond (pictured with former Welcome Back Carter star Ron Palilo from an episode of Celebrity Boxing); former Diff'rent Strokes actor Todd Bridges; super-heavyweight boxer ButterBean; former The Real World: Las Vegas roommate Trishelle Cannatella; ex-Bewitched actress Erin Murphy; singer and actor Frank Stallone; 1980s pop star Tiffany; and Playboy playmate Nikki Ziering.

Hmmm...if there is anyone out there who couldn't have predicted these outcomes...please send em my way I got a little wager on the next TNA event. Now on to the rumblings making their way through the wrestling world.

In the "Tassels vs. Tatas" Department.

The Ultimate Warriors ex-wife, Shari Tyree, has been dropping hints that she will soon be interviewed for the first time about her life with the former WWF Inter-Continental and World Champion. So soon it has been claimed that it will happen THIS week! No offense Shari, but if I wanna hear some chick with a name that sounds like a brain-dead stipper talk about a musclehead ex with serious psycological issues I'll just wait for the next tidbit on the "Luscious" Linda Hogan saga to pop up.

So now that Jesse Ventura can no longer rule over wrestling, or the state of Minnesota for that matter, it is rumored that the former WWF Superstar is negotiating to host a judge talk show set to premiere in 2009. Now Judge Judy scares me, Judge Ventura only gives me bad gas. Wonder how many one-liners ol' Jesse's dug up from his wrestling days to foist upon unsuspecting trial attendees?

So this upcoming Monday, August 25th, WWE Raw will air on Sci-Fi instead of the regular USA Network slot due to the US Open Tennis Tournament. Maybe ol' Vince really is hurt...he gotta be to just step aside...FOR TENNIS?!?!?! Guess 25 plus years of propping up the USA Network means very little these days. Why not just skip Raw this week? That way the 4 or 5 Superstars left can take the night off.

So after last night's "not really a match after all" match, Mark Henry will take on Matt Hardy on ECW this Tuesday on SCI-Fi. I should feel bad for all the "Matt-Heads" who actually paid to see last nights "not-match" when they could have just watched for free on Tuesday but like they say "a fool and his money...". But then again...it's not like this is REAL ECW, right? If this is news to you...I got a wager on a Magnificent Moolah match I'd like to discuss with you as well.

So WWE's Umaga will be out of action for a couple of months to undergo rehab on a "funny" knee injury hee suffered at Tuesday's WWE Smackdown taping. They say it's a torn posterior cruciate ligament. I say it's a friggin' breath of fresh air!

After a few weeks of great response yet continued difficulties we have decided to "slightly overhaul" the Sunday afternoon live call-in online show "Mat Chat". We will continue to announce upcoming events and results as well as have guests but guests and topics will be geared towards being discussion based as per request of our listeners. Look for more in-depth interviews and less live confrontation. Also look for more discussions on key topics affecting wrestling in the area as well as historical discussions. Mat Chat will continue to run at 1 1/2 hours to bring listeners an ever improving product.

Also we would like to direct your attention to the continual wrestling news blog streams we have installed on the right information bar on this page. You will find links to some of the best blog news pages on the internet and all are worth checking out for the latest news in wrestling.

WWE: Summerslam Results/Rematch/Firings Update

World Wrestling Entertainment results from the SummerSlam PPV event at the Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, IN, on August 17: the Big Show over Bam Neely in a dark match; MVP over Jeff Hardy, with involvement from Shelton Benjamin; Santino Marella & Beth Phoenix over Kofi Kingston & Mickie James for Marella to win the WWE Inter-Continental Heavyweight Title and Phoenix to become the WWE Women’s Champion; Shawn Michaels came out with his wife and announced his “retirement” before being interrupted by Chris Jericho, who hit Shawn’s wife by accident, ending simply with the Michaels’ leaving; Matt Hardy over ECW Heavyweight Champion Mark Henry by disqualification in a title match, with interference from Tony Atlas, and Jeff Hardy getting involved in a post-match brawl; CM Punk over JBL to retain the WWE Heavyweight Title; Triple H over the Great Khali to retain the WWE World Heavyweight Title; Batista over John Cena; and the Undertaker over Edge in “Hell in a Cell”.

WWE.com is reporting that on this week's ECW on Sci Fi a rematch from SummerSlam will take place involving Mark Henry defending the ECW Championship against Matt Hardy in Moline, IL.

When the CEO of the company makes a statement to stockholders like: "...Our total operating expenses, on an adjusted basis, grew 27%, exceeding the percentage growth in revenue. Although the rise in expenses broadly supports our top-line growth, the disproportionate growth in expenses is unacceptable. Therefore, we are implementing stronger cost control measures, reassessing our spending and the priority of our investments to drive increases in earnings and margins", you know you probably need to get your resume in order, and start networking in a hurry.

This is just as true when the CEO happens to be Linda McMahon.

It's even worse if a stockholder complains on a conference call that "the company is spending money like a drunken sailor" to back her up.

Guess what usually happens next in corporate America?

It did here, too.

Thus, WWE started a bloodletting over the last few weeks that presumably "controlled expenses", with firings (or being "future endeavored", among some circles) of the following WWE performers over the last 2 weeks:

* Braden Walker (better known as former TNA Tag Champion Chris Harris), may have made a bad choice in leaving TNA, to put it mildly. Former partner James Storm is now paired in the "Beer Money" tag team with Robert Roode. One vote for re-pairing Storm and Harris as quickly as possible.

* Big Daddy V may need to lose weight as quickly as possible for health reasons before worrying about where he's going next. Even with that, he was pushed fairly recently, and the termination was a surprise to many.

* Shannon Moore - dropped from WWE after challenging (with Jimmy Wang Yang) Miz and Morrison for the Tag Team Titles back in May

* Nick Patrick has been out of commission for some time, having suffered a back injury

* Domino - he was a co-Tag Team Champion for four months defeating Paul London and Brian Kendrick

* James Maritato (aka Little Guido or Nunzio) - Sadly, he was used as prelim fodder in recent years, when he was used at all with WWECW

* James Curtis (aka Kasey James) - had a brief run on Smackdown with Idol Stevens and Michelle McCool, and as prelim talent in recent months on WWECW

* Rory and Robbie McAllister- The tag team was probably doomed on Wrestlemania weekend when both WWE and TNA were in Orlando; and TNA, in an irresponsible move, showed "Robbie" under his birth name (Derek Graham-Couch) in the crowd on the live broadcast from Orlando. It also cost him his $5,000 Wrestlemania paycheck due to what TNA did. Previous to that, Rory injured his shoulder earlier in the year, which didn't help matters fpr the tag team, either.

* Cherry (aka Kara Slice in New Jersey indies) - was brought in as eye candy for Deuce and Domino. When Maryse was brought in, she was unceremoniously dropped after her unannounced departure from managing the Deuce and Domino tag team, which obviously didn't last very long either.

* Colin Delaney and Stevie Richards - neither one wasted anytime as Delaney was on the final UWA Hardcore Wrestling up in Ontario the very evening his firing was announced, and Richards appeared on Velocity Pro Wrestling's Philadelphia show within 24 hours of the announcement.

* Referee Wes Adams - he seems to have taken the fall for a blown finish in last Tuesday's ECW TV as Mike Mizanin was supposed to break up a pinfall and forgot, leaving Adams to count a pinfall that wasn't part of the script. WWE policy was and is that if a wrestler didn't kick out of a finish, that the referee working the match has to count the pinfall as if it were a legit match. Even so, it appears that Adams took the fall for a pushed tag team "being made to look bad".

I have to wonder about the ethics of firing people while injured in wrestling. Every time it happens, one more wrestler figures out that they have to manage pain (these days with alcohol, instead of as many pain pills as the past) and not report an injury.
